Principal / Senior Principal Software Engineer

About the Role

Principal or Senior Principal Software Engineer at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Woodland Hills, CA, developing software for cutting-edge navigation systems. Uses Model-based Engineering and Agile practices. On-site, full-time. Clearance: Secret (ability to obtain; none needed at start). Travel: 10%.

What You'll Do

• Develop, test, and debug software for navigation systems
• Perform software and system integration on state-of-the-art hardware
• Translate formal software requirements into software designs
• Work in an agile and collaborative development environment

Basic Qualifications – Principal

• Bachelor's in STEM + 5 years, or Master's + 3 years, or PhD + 1 year of hands-on development
• Experience developing software in MATLAB or Simulink
• Programming in C, C++, or Python
• Experience with ClearCase, Git, ClearQuest, or Jira
• U.S. Citizenship; ability to obtain Secret clearance

Basic Qualifications – Senior Principal

• Bachelor's + 8 years, or Master's + 6 years, or PhD + 4 years of hands-on development
• Same technical requirements as Principal level

Preferred Qualifications

• Current/Active Secret clearance
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Kalman filter design, INS/GPS navigation systems
• Familiarity with DO-178B/C, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, RS-422

• Principal: $114,000–$171,000/yr; Senior Principal: $142,200–$213,400/yr
