Police Officer Recruit (Bilingual English/Armenian)

About the Role

The Glendale Police Department is seeking bilingual (English/Armenian) candidates for an entry-level, non-sworn Police Officer Recruit position. Recruits participate in pre-academy training and the police-training academy.

Starting pay: $103,745.76/year | Potential earnings: up to $157,000/year with incentive pays

Essential Functions

• Respond to calls for service (accidents, emergencies, crimes, threats)
• Administer first aid; interview and record statements from witnesses, suspects and victims
• Apprehend suspects; enforce traffic laws; investigate accidents
• Investigate juvenile matters; serve warrants and subpoenas; testify in court

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Valid Class C California driver's license
• Minimum 21 years old at time of appointment as Police Officer
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• No felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude
• Fluent in Armenian (required)
• Must reside within 60 miles of Glendale Civic Center within 4 months of hire

Selection Process

1. Written Exam: Law Enforcement Frontline National via NationalTestingNetwork.com -- deadline October 20, 2026 (min scores: Video 65%, Writing 70%, Reading 70%)
2. Physical Agility Test: October 10, 2026
3. Preliminary Background Questionnaire
4. Oral Interview (100% weight; minimum 70% passing score)
5. Performance Test: Bilingual Armenian assessment
6. Background Investigation (polygraph + Livescan fingerprinting)

Veteran's Credit: Attach DD-214 to application.

Medical/Psychological

All finalists must pass a pre-placement medical exam and psychological evaluation.
