About the role
Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines; may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy.
What you'll do
- Provides pharmaceutical care to patients as a staff pharmacist, including compounding of nuclear medications, testing for quality through chromatography, and directing distribution of medication using a team of drivers.
- Assesses and maintains pharmacy inventory and executes necessary orders, identifying and procuring alternative drugs to mitigate risks when necessary.
- Leads hiring, onboarding, and performance management for pharmacy staff, including competency evaluations and documentation.
- Manages and directs internal workflows of the nuclear pharmacy, including staffing and scheduling optimization.
- Assists in execution of plans for lowering costs, increasing efficiency, and driving profitable growth.
- Maintains relationships with outside suppliers and vendors and assists in demand planning.
- Participates in administrative tasks including customer interactions.
- Performs other job-related duties as required, including delivering doses if necessary.
- May oversee running of the facility (Pharmacist in Charge) if needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD preferred.
- Valid CA State Pharmacist's license, or in process of obtaining one, preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of biohazardous waste management procedures preferred.
- Manual dexterity for reach, lifting, holding small objects, and dispensing doses.
- Comfortable working in a nuclear environment; must hold a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work weekends, on call, holidays, overtime, alternate shifts, or rotations.
- Intermediate computer skills; may require vendor credentialing.
- Basic proficiency in English required (reading/writing) to process documents.
- Prior Authorized User certification preferred; Nuclear Pharmacy Training can be provided.
Schedule
Rotating (monthly) schedule including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage. Flexibility required to support business needs in a 24/7 environment.
Pay & benefits
Anticipated hourly range: $56.10–$88.33. Bonus eligible: No.
