Responsibilities

The Laboratory Assistant will follow the guidelines set by CLIA and the California Business and Professions Code. Unlicensed laboratory personnel are limited to pre-analytical and supportive functions only. All duties must be performed under the direct and constant supervision of a physician or licensed laboratory professional.

Responsibilities include:

• Computer entry, filing, telephone communication, and clerical duties
• Demonstrating professional telephone etiquette and greeting patients courteously
• Processing specimens across laboratory departments
• Preparing and processing specimens for reference laboratories
• Stocking and ordering routine supplies
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of storage areas and equipment
• Assisting Pathology with pre-analytical and clerical tasks
• Functioning as a runner to support laboratory workflow

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required
• Active California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or II license required for individuals performing phlebotomy
• Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire preferred
• Minimum of 1 year clinical laboratory experience preferred

Pay & Benefits

Encino Hospital Medical Center offers competitive compensation. Current range: $23.00–$35.91/hr. Benefits may vary based on employment status.
