About the Role
The City of Glendale is hiring an hourly, unclassified Youth Employment Team Supervisor to oversee up to ten youth apprentices (ages 14-24) performing hillside brush clearance, weed abatement, landscaping, and debris clearance on private and public property.
What You'll Do
- Supervise and direct youth apprentices in brush clearance, weed abatement, landscaping, and general labor tasks
- Use and supervise the use of power and hand tools, and the hauling/dumping of debris
- Transport youth apprentices in City vehicles; facilitate staff meetings; prepare timesheets and paperwork
- Evaluate subordinate staff performance
- Work weekday, evening, and weekend hours, including outdoors in the sun on hillsides
Requirements
- One year of recent supervisory experience, preferably supervising youth
- High school graduation, GED, or CHSPE certificate, plus 30 semester units of college work
- Valid California Class C driver's license; CPR certification within six months of employment
- Desired: First Aid/CPR certification, Class B commercial license
