Hourly City Worker / Youth Employment Team Supervisor

About the Role

The City of Glendale is hiring an hourly, unclassified Youth Employment Team Supervisor to oversee up to ten youth apprentices (ages 14-24) performing hillside brush clearance, weed abatement, landscaping, and debris clearance on private and public property.

What You'll Do

• Supervise and direct youth apprentices in brush clearance, weed abatement, landscaping, and general labor tasks
• Use and supervise the use of power and hand tools, and the hauling/dumping of debris
• Transport youth apprentices in City vehicles; facilitate staff meetings; prepare timesheets and paperwork
• Evaluate subordinate staff performance
• Work weekday, evening, and weekend hours, including outdoors in the sun on hillsides

Requirements

• One year of recent supervisory experience, preferably supervising youth
• High school graduation, GED, or CHSPE certificate, plus 30 semester units of college work
• Valid California Class C driver's license; CPR certification within six months of employment
• Desired: First Aid/CPR certification, Class B commercial license

This is an unclassified, non-civil-service hourly position with no medical, dental, or accrued leave benefits (aside from AB1522 Healthy Workplace Healthy Family Act).
