About the Role
Academic Advisors at CSUN help students navigate degree requirements, develop educational plans, and connect with campus resources to support their academic and personal success.
Responsibilities
- Advise students on degree requirements, course selection, and academic planning
- Develop and monitor individualized academic plans in collaboration with students
- Identify students at academic risk and connect them with appropriate support services
- Interpret and apply university academic policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate student records and documentation in the advising system
- Facilitate group advising sessions, workshops, and orientations
- Collaborate with faculty, departments, and student services offices
- Support retention and graduation initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
- Experience in academic advising, student affairs, or related field in higher education
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to student success and equity
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in education, counseling, or related field
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Familiarity with CSUN or CSU system programs and resources
