About the Role
Lead the team that builds the software brain of Machina Labs' robotic factory. Reporting to the VP of Software & IT, you own the full journey from 3D geometry to robotic instructions. The team's portfolio spans factory web applications, computational geometry, advanced visualization and simulation, machine learning, and AI-assisted application oversight.
What You'll Do
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of software engineers
- Own delivery of software solutions from scoping through shipping
- Partner with product managers to define priorities and roadmap
- Collaborate across infrastructure and IT, legal and compliance, robotics and automation, and other engineering disciplines
- Establish and continuously improve software development processes, quality practices, and lifecycle management
- Provide technical oversight and guardrails for AI-assisted applications built throughout the organization
- Recruit, hire, and onboard new team members; build a high-performing engineering culture
- Balance long-term architectural health with the fast pace of a manufacturing startup
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3–5+ years of people management
- Strong command of software development processes and lifecycle management
- Working knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python
- Experience building and operating software on AWS
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes)
Nice to Have
- Experience with robotics-related software or CAD/3D geometry manipulation
- Background in computational geometry
- Experience with modern AI-assisted development or machine learning
Work Arrangement
Hybrid — 3 days per week on-site in Los Angeles, 2 days per week remote.
