About the role

The City of Burbank has an opening for a Criminal Prosecutor at the Assistant or Senior Assistant City Attorney level. This position is limited to criminal prosecution, primarily prosecuting state misdemeanor offenses and Burbank municipal code violations. Open competitive recruitment, open to all qualified candidates.

What you'll do

• Review and file criminal cases, handle daily court calendar
• Prepare motion work and conduct jury/bench trials
• Handle appellate work related to criminal cases
• Senior level: supervise, train, and evaluate professional staff; manage caseloads; act for the City Attorney when absent

Requirements

• Admission to the State Bar of California
• 2-5 years' experience in criminal prosecution
• Excellent knowledge of criminal law, evidence, constitutional law, and judicial procedure
• Strong legal writing, research, analysis, and communication skills
