About the Role
Per Diem position as RN First Assistant in the Operating Room. Coordinates care between surgeon, anesthesiologist, and room staff, and functions as a first assistant during surgical procedures throughout the perioperative period.
What You'll Do
- Perform circulating and scrubbing duties; confirm surgical site/side before anesthesia induction
- Handle and dissect tissues; clamp blood vessels, coagulate bleeding points, ligate vessels in collaboration with the surgeon
- Suture muscle, fascia, subcutaneous, and skin tissue in collaboration with the surgeon
- Maintain sterile field with proper aseptic technique
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping
- Document nursing diagnoses, patient's plan of care, and interventions
- Mentor and educate staff members
Requirements
- RN licensure in California: Required
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification: Required
- Completion of an RNFA program that meets AORN standards: Required
- CPR/BLS certification: Required
- 2 years' perioperative nursing experience: Preferred
- CRNFA certification: Preferred
