About the Role

Per Diem position as RN First Assistant in the Operating Room. Coordinates care between surgeon, anesthesiologist, and room staff, and functions as a first assistant during surgical procedures throughout the perioperative period.

What You'll Do

• Perform circulating and scrubbing duties; confirm surgical site/side before anesthesia induction
• Handle and dissect tissues; clamp blood vessels, coagulate bleeding points, ligate vessels in collaboration with the surgeon
• Suture muscle, fascia, subcutaneous, and skin tissue in collaboration with the surgeon
• Maintain sterile field with proper aseptic technique
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping
• Document nursing diagnoses, patient's plan of care, and interventions
• Mentor and educate staff members

Requirements

• RN licensure in California: Required
• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification: Required
• Completion of an RNFA program that meets AORN standards: Required
• CPR/BLS certification: Required
• 2 years' perioperative nursing experience: Preferred
• CRNFA certification: Preferred
