About the Role

Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner in the NICU — Per Diem, variable shift.

What You'll Do

Performs basic and critical respiratory care services. Provides respiratory therapy to neonates as ordered by physicians, according to established standards and practices.

• Assess and document the appropriateness of prescribed therapy
• Provide and monitor conventional ventilation and High Frequency ventilatory support to premature infants in the NICU by protocol
• Perform pulmonary function tests, drainage procedures, and cardio-respiratory patient care
• Make rounds to check all respiratory therapy equipment; ensure VAP bundle compliance for ventilated patients
• Assist physicians with bronchoscopies and special procedures
• Participate in training and supervision of new employees
• Provide instruction to patients and families regarding cardio-respiratory disease

Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent: Preferred
• Three years' technical experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

• NBRC-RRT or NBRC-CRT credential: Required
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license: Required in CA
• BLS/CPR certification: Required
• PALS certification: Required (department-specific)
• NRP certification: Preferred
• ACLS certification: Preferred
