About the Role

The hardest part of Roboforming is generating a path that produces a highly accurate part. Metal springs back the instant the tool moves past it, and residual stress can pull a formed part out of spec. Today, Machina iterates: form a part, measure the error, adjust the path. This works but is expensive in material, labor, and robot time.

To reach broader consumer markets, Machina needs to reach target tolerances in fewer trials — by predicting springback before forming. Traditional solvers and off-the-shelf FEAs can't do it. This role owns the ML and simulation products that make it possible.

Areas of Focus

Springback Prediction — Own the models that predict how a part will spring back and pre-compensate the path, so the very first formed part lands close to the target shape.

Input Parameter Selection — Own the model that recommends input parameters during path planning, replacing experience-dependent tribal knowledge that doesn't scale.

Data and Simulation Environments — Own the datasets needed to train all ML models, including exploring historic data and working with R&D to plan experiments that fill data gaps.
