About the role
Glendale Police Department is hiring both Police Officer Recruits and experienced Lateral officers. Lateral candidates get an expedited hiring process (written test and PAT waived), and your prior service time counts toward longevity pay from day one.
What you'll do
- Respond to calls for service: accidents, emergencies, crimes, and requests for aid
- Partner with a community that actively supports its Police Department
- Pursue specialized assignments: Narcotics, K9, Helicopter, Motors, SWAT, Mental Health Team, and more (nearly 60% of sworn personnel work in specialized units)
Requirements
- Current California Peace Officer status (lateral) OR meet recruit qualifications
- Must pass background investigation, medical, and psychological evaluations
Pay & benefits
$8,645–$11,922/month base. With incentive pays (longevity, POST certificate, admin assignment) total compensation can reach ~$160,000/year. Paid bonding leave for childbirth and adoptions.
