About the Role
Entry-level trainee classification in Glendale's Police Communications Bureau, working under close supervision on progressively responsible dispatch tasks. Unclassified, non-civil service, at-will full-time position with the same salary, benefits, and leave accruals as classified employees.
What You'll Do
- Receive, evaluate, and route emergency and routine calls for police, fire, and EMS services
- Monitor and dispatch police personnel and units using radio and computer-aided dispatch systems
- Monitor multiple emergency radio frequencies and facility security/alarm systems
- Perform research and clerical work, including logs, reports, and file updates
Requirements
- Some general clerical experience with public contact desirable
- High school diploma, GED, CHSPE certificate, or equivalent
- Valid California Class C driver's license
- Preferred: bilingual English/Spanish or English/Armenian; prior two-way radio dispatch experience
