Paraprofessional

About the Role

Paraprofessional at Our Community School (OCS), a TK–8 full-inclusion charter school in Chatsworth. Full-time, 10.5-month position (Monday–Friday, 8:00am–3:30pm), available immediately pending clearances.

What You'll Do

• Support students individually and in small groups with reading, writing, math, and other academic activities
• Assist teachers in implementing classroom lessons, interventions, and instructional activities
• Help students develop positive behaviors, social skills, emotional regulation, and problem-solving strategies
• Support students who may demonstrate challenging behaviors, including physical aggression or elopement
• Collect academic and behavioral data to monitor student progress
• Assist students with toileting, hygiene, and changing soiled clothing when necessary
• Actively supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch, and assigned periods
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to maintain student safety

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associate degree or at least 48 semester units of college
• At least 6 college units in child development (12 preferred)
• Completion of an OCS-approved paraprofessional assessment or CBEST
• Experience or demonstrated potential working with students with diverse learning and behavioral needs
• Must complete Live Scan background clearance and TB documentation

Pay

$28.55–$30.55/hr. Full-time, non-exempt, at-will position.
