About the role
Answers emergency (911) and non-emergency phone lines and dispatches units for the Burbank Police Department Communications Center.
What you'll do
- Serve as Operator in the BPD Communications Center on a shift basis
- Receive calls, dispatch, and record law enforcement and other equipment for emergencies
- Maintain continuous contact with mobile units and a log of all activity
- Operate the 911 telephone system and computer terminal
- Prepare reports and summaries of Communications Center activity
Requirements
- Knowledge of public safety communications practices, customer service, and clear writing
- Skill operating modern computers and related software
- Ability to work rotating shifts and act quickly in emergencies
Recruitment process
Requires completing the department application and the Frontline National written exam through National Testing Network by noon Friday, August 07, 2026, plus the candidate PHQ.
Pay & benefits
Salary range: $68,687–$94,686/yr, plus POST pay incentives up to 5%.
