About the role
CNC Prototyping Engineer on Amazon Leo's Optical Inter-Satellite Link (OISL) Prototyping & Integration team. You'll own the full machining lifecycle of complex aerospace prototypes, from programming through quality-conforming delivery.
Export Control: Candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or lawfully admitted refugees/asylees.
What you'll do
- Program, set up, and machine complex aerospace prototypes on multi-axis mills, lathes, and mill-turn equipment
- Develop advanced CAM strategies optimizing tool paths and fixturing
- Review engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and 3D CAD models
- Mentor other machinists and lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Partner with design and manufacturing engineering on design-for-manufacturability
Requirements
- 5+ years CNC machining in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing
- Proficiency in CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar)
- Experience with aerospace-grade materials (aluminum, titanium, stainless, Inconel)
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T
