About the Role
Performs a wide variety of clinical laboratory tests on biological specimens. Reviews, evaluates, documents, and reports results, following lab safety and maintenance protocols. Trains and supervises trainees and laboratory assistants as needed.
What You'll Do
- Perform specimen collection, labeling, handling, and processing procedures
- Prioritize and perform testing: chemistry, coagulation, hematology, blood bank, microbiology, and more
- Perform, evaluate, and document quality control checks
- Review validity of test results and correlate with diagnoses
- Document and expedite critical values to appropriate clinicians
- Perform equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration
- Orient, instruct, and supervise laboratory assistants as needed
Requirements
- Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in CA: Required
- Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, or allied health: Required
- ASCP or NCA certification: Preferred
- Clinical laboratory experience: Preferred
