About the Role
Certified Sterile Processing Technician at Adventist Health Glendale in Glendale, CA. Adventist Health Glendale is a 515-bed Magnet®-designated hospital located between Burbank and Pasadena in the San Fernando Valley.
Processes and sterilizes surgical and hospital instruments and equipment. Assembles surgical instrument sets and trays. Distributes patient care supplies and equipment.
Essential Functions
- Decontaminate and process instruments, including compiling instrument sets, counting instruments, and recording counts
- Sterilize instruments, trays, basins, etc. with appropriate exposure/dry times; prepare instruments for "immediate use" sterilization when necessary
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment in the department
- Clean autoclave chambers on a weekly basis
- Perform daily diagnostic testing on sterilizing equipment, including test packs, biological indicators, and diagnostic cycles for Endoscope Processors
- Evaluate instruments for function and safety when reprocessing
- Provide reprocessing services for ancillary department instruments (Emergency Room, Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, Radiology)
- Identify and evaluate loaner instruments prior to processing; maintain biological incubator and log
- Assist Operating Room Housekeeping with room turnover, terminal cleaning, and daily duties as necessary
Requirements
- High School Education/GED: Required
- Sterile Processing Technician certification: Required
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent: Preferred
