Winnetka Council Hears LA28 Olympics Plans

September 16, 2026 · Neighborhood Councils

LA28 organizing committee representative Mike Menjivar briefed the Winnetka Neighborhood Council on the 2028 Olympics at the August 13, 2026 meeting.

Menjivar said LA28 is a private company delivering the games.

The games will feature 51 sports and 353 events.

The athlete quota is 11,198.

Los Angeles is the host city, with events in several cities across five states.

The Paralympic games will also be large.

The Venice venue is the event closest to Winnetka.

LA28 is looking for workers and encouraged attendees to check the Career Page on the LA28 website.

The games are expected to bring 5 million visitors to Los Angeles.

PlayLA, a youth sports program linked to the games, offers activities free or for no more than $10.

Ticket sales are going well.

A First Friday Webinar is set for September 11, from 10 to 11 a.m., offered virtually.
