Valley Glen Flags Dangerous 170 Freeway Fence

A member of the Greater Valley Glen Council raised a safety concern at the July 13, 2026 meeting about fencing along the 170 freeway.

The minutes note that reinforced fencing is needed along the 170 freeway CalTrans area between Victory and Laurel Canyon.

Individuals are cutting into the chain link fencing, creating holes in the fence.

The minutes state this is a danger to the children that play in Laurel Grove Park.

The Assemblymember's field deputy said the issue is being brought to CalTrans for resolution.

Daniel Lopez requested that partners in the State Senate be brought into the conversation with CalTrans.
