September 11, 2026 · Neighborhood Councils

The Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council heard an overview on September 9 of a new law that will require homeowners to harden their properties against fire hazards.

The law will roll out over the next two to five years.

The first phase requires removing combustibles from near the house.

Wood and vinyl fencing attached to the house will need to be removed under the new requirements.

Council President Lydia Grant shared the update with the board.
