Sunland-Tujunga Council Backs $40K NC Budget and Rollover Reform

June 30, 2026 · Neighborhood Councils

The Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council submitted a Community Impact Statement supporting a proposal to raise neighborhood council annual funding to $40,000 and remove caps on rollover funds.

The statement, filed in connection with Council File 24-0867, is reflected in minutes from a May 13, 2026 meeting.

The council states that current funding levels have not kept pace with inflation or growing community needs.

The STNC supports removing limits on rollover funds that carry over between fiscal years.

The statement notes that wildfire preparedness and emergency response along the Foothill corridor make funding flexibility especially important for Sunland-Tujunga.

The council argues that rollover caps push councils toward unnecessary year-end spending instead of long-term planning.
