Sunland-Tujunga Council Raises McGroarty Park Concerns

The Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council discussed McGroarty Park concerns at its September 9, 2026 meeting.

Senior Lead Officer Caloca said Little Lander's Park and McGroarty Park have ongoing issues with homeless.

Board president Lydia Grant said she heard from neighbors near McGroarty asking whether the city plans to check the safety of local hills before heavy rains.

The concern is that heavy rains this year could create mudslide conditions.

Grant said the park is covered with stickers, making it hard to use.

Grant raised the issue with CD7 representative Ricardo Flores.

Flores said there are plans to look at vulnerable areas ahead of the rainy season.
