Sunland-Tujunga Opposes Pre-School on Lowell Avenue

June 25, 2026 · Neighborhood Councils

The Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council voted 11 to 0 to send a letter opposing a conditional use permit for a pre-school at 4459 Lowell Avenue.

The case number is ZA-2025-4768-CU2-SPPC.

The council's primary concern is traffic and safety on Lowell Avenue.

Lowell Avenue traffic is already affected by parents dropping off children at a school directly across the street from the proposed site.

Lowell is a major route for drivers heading to the 210 Freeway and a key corridor for emergency egress, the minutes state.

The minutes note that Council District 7 representative Rodriguez supports the pre-school.

The council's letter will go to the City of Los Angeles Planning Department.
