Sunland-Tujunga Backs Appeal on Cracked Denivelle Wall

The Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council voted 13 to 0 on September 9 to support an appeal over construction safety concerns at 7921 Denivelle Road.

A neighbor told the board that a retaining wall more than two stories tall has serious cracks and that a critical wall on the west side of the property was never built.

The minutes state that a gas line at the property is encased in solid concrete and the neighbor has not had gas or hot water in more than 20 years.

Council President Lydia Grant said she visited the property that day and saw the cracks and separation in the retaining wall.

The council's motion asks the city's planning and grading departments to visit and evaluate the lot.

Correspondence Secretary Cindy Cleghorn said she would write a letter of support.

The motion was made by Second Vice President Melissa Sagastume and seconded by Public Safety Representative Nina Royal.
