Studio City Backs $316,000 Ventura Boulevard Safety Lights

September 1, 2026 · Neighborhood Councils

Studio City Neighborhood Council voted on August 26, 2026, to support a transfer of $316,000 in Ventura-Cahuenga Corridor Specific Plan funds for a new pedestrian safety downlighting project along Ventura Boulevard and Ventura Place.

The vote was 8 yes, 4 no, 1 abstain, and 1 recused.

Voting no were Kesara Borirak, Andrew Epstein, Jeff Hartwick, and Matt Thompson.

Kim Clements abstained and Dean Cutler recused himself.

Some board members questioned the value of voting after the Specific Plan Review Board and City Council had already advanced the project.

The council will submit a Community Impact Statement to city officials supporting the downlighting project.
