Studio City Votes Against Universal Roller Coaster Noise

September 15, 2026 · Neighborhood Councils

The Studio City Neighborhood Council voted 13 to 1 on August 26 to affirm a resolution calling for immediate action on noise from the Fast and Furious roller coaster at Universal Studios.

The minutes state that Toluca Lake and Studio City residents described persistent rider screams affecting homes and outdoor use.

The minutes note that Universal Studios has prior mitigation commitments, but members discussed the adequacy of current sound barriers and the need for independent sound data.

The affirmation will be sent to Councilmembers Adrin Nazarian and Nithya Raman and other officials named in the resolution.

The motion was brought by President Jerry Lewis and seconded by Richard Niederberg.

The sole no vote was cast by Matt Thompson.
