Studio City Council Delays Vote on Ventura Development

The Studio City Neighborhood Council postponed a decision on a proposed development called Riverwalk at Studio City at 12501 to 12665 Ventura Boulevard at its May 27, 2026 board meeting.

The project is identified in city records as CPC-2025-5697-DB-PR-SPPC-MCUP-VHCA and VTT-84453.

The council had been considering a motion to oppose the project unless the developer addressed a list of conditions.

Among those conditions, the minutes state, was a request to cap the building at 63 feet and remove an 84-foot height waiver.

The board also called for removal of a 1.5-foot rear yard setback waiver and a volume averaging waiver tied to the Ventura-Cahuenga Corridor Specific Plan.

New traffic studies were requested to include nearby projects such as Sportsmen's Apartments and Harvard-Westlake River Park.

The board also asked for a dedicated right turn lane on westbound Ventura Boulevard and the preparation of an Environmental Impact Report.

Nine board members voted to postpone the motion and one member, Thompson, voted against the postponement.

The council directed its Land Use Committee to hold a special committee meeting and a special regular board meeting before the matter returns for a vote.

The minutes state the intent was to allow stakeholder input and complete an additional committee review in advance of a City Planning Commission hearing scheduled for June 11, 2026.
