Studio City Council Backs Metal Theft Bill

The Studio City Neighborhood Council voted 15 to 0 at its July 22 meeting to support legislation that would calculate metal theft liability by the full cost of repair and replacement.

The vote supported Council File 26-0002-S11 and AB 1941, which concern how losses from metal theft are measured.

Board members discussed the damage caused by metal theft and the rationale for measuring loss by restoration cost rather than scrap value.

The council directed staff to submit a Community Impact Statement to Council File 26-0002-S11.
