Studio City Backs Zero-Cost Pledge for LA28 Olympics
July 17, 2026 · Neighborhood Councils
The Studio City Neighborhood Council voted 9 to 0 to support Council File 15-0989-S66 at its May 27, 2026 board meeting.
The council file asks the Chief Legislative Analyst to prepare language for a new section of the City Charter through the ongoing charter reform process.
That new section would codify a Zero-Cost Principle for the LA28 Games, the minutes state.
Under the proposed principle, the minutes state, the City shall not incur unreimbursed costs associated with hosting the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The minutes also note that no Legacy Fund shall be established until the City is reimbursed.
One board member, Gatsiounis, abstained from the vote.
One board member, Epstein, was absent.
The motion was also submitted as a Community Impact Statement to Council File 15-0989-S66.
The board also asked that any report back not be scheduled for a City Council vote for at least four weeks, to allow this and other neighborhood councils time to comment.
