July 4 in the San Fernando Valley
June 20, 2026
The Fourth of July lands on a Saturday this year, and the San Fernando Valley is leaning all the way in. 2026 is also America's 250th birthday, so a lot of these celebrations are bigger than usual. Whether you want a free daytime picnic with the kids, a street market, fireworks, or a late-night concert, here are five ways to spend the holiday close to home.
Every event below is a live listing on the SFV event calendar. Tap any "View on the event calendar" link for the full details, directions, and the latest updates.
Granada Hills Old Fashioned 4th of July Picnic
Granada Hills • Sat, Jul 4 • 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM • Free
This one doubles as a birthday party: 250 years of America and 100 years of Granada Hills. The Centennial Committee throws an old-fashioned neighborhood picnic with live music from a barbershop quartet, kids' singer Miko Monroe, and free hot dogs, chips, and water while supplies last. There is face painting, a bounce house, a caricature artist, and craft booths to keep everyone busy.
- Patriotic pup parade at 1:00 PM. Bring your dog on a leash in their most festive outfit for a chance to win.
- Pie-eating contest at 1:10 PM. Sign up at the Centennial Booth by 12:45 PM on event day.
- Lawn games, sack races, hula hoop contests, and the newly remodeled Granada Hills pool and splash pad are open (LA City Parks charges a separate pool admission fee, so pack a swimsuit and towel).
