August 31, 2026 · Neighborhood Councils

The Oaks interim housing facility in Encino opened with 36 residents and no incidents, according to a report at the Encino Neighborhood Council special meeting on August 26, 2026.

Gloria Cardenas, Director of Interim Housing at Hope The Mission, told the board the facility has 24 male and 12 female participants.

No incidents have occurred so far, other than a community member who came with a non-participant to find out if they lived there.

All participants signed an acknowledgment form and are following it, the minutes state.

Staff and security are on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Staff are also on call, and a crisis line is available.

Community members can reach the facility with questions at any hour of the day, Cardenas said.
