Encino Pushes LAPD to Restore Public Crime Data Site

The Encino Neighborhood Council voted at its July 22 meeting to push for restoring public crime data to the website crimemapping.com.

The minutes state that crimemapping.com stopped receiving LAPD data in March 2024.

The council voted to prioritize advocacy for LAPD to integrate crime reporting data with crimemapping.com.

That advocacy includes official letters, emails, a Community Impact Statement, and public comments from the council's president or public safety committee chair.

The council also voted to push for LAPD to reduce hold times on the LAPD non-emergency line 877-ASK-LAPD.

A second measure asked for an option to send non-emergency text messages to LAPD.

Both motions passed as part of the consent calendar with 16 yes votes.
