Encino Council Splits on Encino Fest Sponsors

The Encino Neighborhood Council approved six co-sponsors for Encino Fest at a special meeting on May 3, 2026, but voted down two bids in close votes.
City Council District 4 committed up to $5,000 toward stage and sound costs and was approved 12 to 0.
County Supervisor District 3, represented by Lindsey Horvath, committed $1,750 plus additional funds for face painting and balloon art and was approved 12 to 0.
Valley Beth Shalom was approved 12 to 0 for up to $750 to pay for a children's music program.
The Armenian Cultural Foundation and the Encino Property Owners Association were each approved for up to $500.
School board member Nick Melvoin was approved as a co-sponsor for up to $500, passing 10 to 2.
The Homeowners of Encino, known as HOME, was rejected as a co-sponsor, with the motion failing 5 to 7.
A motion to add school board candidate Ankur Patel as a co-sponsor for up to $500 also failed, 4 to 6.
A motion to add a DJ collective called Beat Collective as a free-services co-sponsor failed 4 to 5.
The six approved co-sponsors committed a combined total of at least $9,000 in event expenses.
The council also approved a budget that removed a $500 DJ fee by having the photographer serve as DJ.
